SCORE INPUT REQUIREMENTS, and Frequently Asked Questions:
(

In previous years the responsibility to report scores fell on both teams.  In the first round of the current season  (2002-2003), however, we required ONLY the home team to report scores as an attempt at simplification. After  following the progress of the first round, and considerable debate we implemented a change in the hopes it would be beneficial.

The change described below is effective beginning with  the first match of the second Third Round (Match No. 15), on October 22, 2002 January 7, 2003.

Reporting Match Results

IN SHORT:
BEGINNING WITH  MATCH #15 (January 7, 2003), HOME CAPTAIN AGAIN BECOMES RESPONSIBLE TO INPUT SCORES, INCLUDING RAIN-OUTS, BEFORE 6:00 PM OF THE FRIDAY FOLLOWING THE MATCH.  IF HOME CAPTAIN FAILS TO INPUT SCORES BY THIS DEADLINE, VISITOR CAPTAIN HAS UNTIL 6:00 PM SUNDAY TO INPUT SCORES.  IF NEITHER CAPTAIN INPUTS THE SCORES, SCOREKEEPER WILL INPUT VISITOR PLAYER NAMES, AND WILL INPUT FORFEITS (AT 0-6, 0-6) FOR HOME TEAM, at 6:30 PM Sunday

Frequently Asked Questions; Reporting Match Results

1.   Why is it necessary to have a deadline for reporting match results?
  Answer:
  a)  We are currently developing an off-line statistics reporting tool to generate and publish match statistics.  This tool will be exercised weekly, after all scores are posted (i.e., operation of this tool requires a STATIC database);
  b) The JCCA database will be backed up after the deadline and before the next match; and
  c) Equality.  Your next opponent is prevented from seeing your most recent results, thereby giving you an advantage.
 2. Will I get a reminder before the deadline?
   Answer: No.
3. We lost, but the winning team hasn't posted the match. What should I do?
Answer: Post the match yourself. Remember, BOTH teams receive forfeits if the match is not posted by the deadline.
4. What impact does a double forfeit have on the WINNING team?
Answer: One more loss, one less win, and no playoff credit for the team or the players who played. It most likely impacts team standing and could even knock a team out of the playoffs - and will definitely affect players' playoff eligibility. In the annals of JCCA history, several teams have been excluded from the playoffs for failure to submit scores. We may go back to that - if so,  BOTH non-reporting teams are subject to this.
5. What impact does a double forfeit have on the LOSING team?
Answer: No playoff credit for the team or the players that played. The standings are not effected, but it could impact playoff eligibility.
6. Is it necessary for me to sign the match on the JCCA Scoreboard if it is already posted?
  Answer: No.
7. Will I get a reminder before the deadline?
  Answer: No.
8. My computer is in the shop and I can't input the match. What should I do?
Answer: Ask the captain of the other team to post the score.

Hit Counter

1. CAPTAINS: Check your Roster in JCCA Scoreboard - if your player is not on the roster, instruct the player to Register on JCCA.net.  IF YOU INTEND TO USE A PLAYER THAT DOES NOT APPEAR ON YOUR ROSTER, HE MUST BE ADDED TO THE ROSTER NO LATER THAN 6:00 PM THE MONDAY BEFORE THE TUESDAY MATCH HE IS TO PLAY.  This is nothing new - that rule was in effect, DISCUSSED and RE-EMPHASIZED during the May 5, 2001 Captains Meeting.

2.   "Log in" and "Edit Players" to ensure that each player on your roster has an "Eligibility Record."  THIS, TOO, MUST BE DONE BEFORE 6:00 PM THE MONDAY BEFORE THE TUESDAY MATCH HE IS TO PLAY.  If you encounter difficulty with this, CALL BILL PRYOR (737-5613) BUT DO NOT WAIT UNTIL MONDAY AT 5:55 PM TO DO THIS - IT IS YOUR EMERGENCY - NOT HIS.

3. All Captains MUST have downloaded "JCCA Scoreboard" for use in entering scores.  An "over-the-web" score input routine is being developed, but "JCCA Scoreboard" is the preferred method - the ONLY method as of 9/19/02.

4. All Captains, SHOULD, while "JCCA Scoreboard" is open for Item 1., above (before the match), enter the Match Date, the Color, select the HOME team and the Visitor Team and then select YOUR players.  If you do not see the player you wish to use at this time, he is, for that match, ineligible.  Once you have entered all your players' names,  click on "File," "Save Match," and when prompted, give that file a name.  Hint - that file is available ONLY to YOUR computer users - so call it something you can remember.  JCCA Scorekeeper uses a "HomeTeam-VisitorTeam-Date" format, so a RS#2 vs OCC#2 match, played on 9/3/02, would be given the name "rs2-oc2-9-3-02."   (You must use dashes ("-") instead of slashes ("/") for the date.)  THEN click on "File," "Print," and print a copy to take with you to the courts.  Better print two in case your opponent doesn't follow this practice.

5. All Captains SHOULD exchange score sheets before the match.  You already know who is playing for YOU, and you can write those names in.  Write in the scores of the matches as the matches are played.

6. WINNING HOME TEAM Captain - Enter match scores within 72 hours of the match.  If the WINNING HOME TEAM Captain does not post scores as of 6:00 PM of the Friday following the Match, the Losing VISITOR Captain must  enter the scores in JCCA Scoreboard.  Scores not posted by the Captains will be entered by the JCCA Scorekeeper as Forfeits.

NOTE - THIS IS A CHANGE BACK TO THE ORIGINAL FROM THE PREVIOUSLY POSTED CHANGED REQUIREMENTS!  (For Additional discussion click HERE.)
