This Page Keeps
Webmaster on Track and Provides a Record of Changes
3/20/05 - 5:17
PM CDT -
Totally revised the "Maps to Clubs" page - all of the Maps linked to a popular
web-site reverted to National maps - so the Staff re-did ALL map links, only to
find that two of the clubs' maps were not loading properly, so these TWO were
re-done to load slightly different maps.
11/19/02 - 5:38
PM CDT - The
move to a totally dynamic website has begun. We are getting into heavy PHP
Scripting and editing.
11/11/02 - 6:26
AM CDT -
Four teams were awarded a Double Forfeit for not posting scores the week after
the last notice was publicized. But it was down to two teams the following
week. If you need clarification on this, Click
Here for
Additional Information..
10/21/02 - 2:09 PM CDT -
IMPORTANT
NOTICE - New
philosophy in Scores Posting is announced! In response to requests from
several captains, the RESPONSIBILITY FOR POSTING SCORES IS
NO LONGER ASSIGNED TO THE HOME TEAM! The WINNING TEAM BEARS
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY, as the Winning team has the most to lose if the scores
are not posted. That does not mean that the losing team bears no
responsibility - BOTH teams are responsible for posting scores - so both
captains should verify that the scores are posted. If the scores are not
posted by the stated deadline, ONE of the captains must take action.
Otherwise both teams will receive a forfeit for the match.

BIG
NEWS - JCCA TENNIS
PLAYER WINS MAJOR INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT! MELISSA MANG of
Metairie WON the INTERNATIONAL TENNIS FEDERATION'S Atlanta
Tournament hosted by Chandra Rubin. Melissa, 15, is the daughter of
Margaret (Peggy) and Fabien Mang, who plays for The Beach Club's White team. Melissa
is currently ranked #1 in USTA Girls 16s, and played JCCA Juniors tennis
for Chateau Estates. (See related
story)
9/23/02 - 6:19 AM
CDT (Continued) -
This was a bumper weekend in JCCA Tennis - as Joe Gyan and
Ana Marie Brown also won a major tournament - the Green Acres NTRP
Tournament. Joe and Ana won the top 8.5 Division, defeating Chuck
Harrington and Dawn Ledet. Joe plays for Green Acres Red Team#2; Chuck
plays for the Bissonet Red Team, winners of the 2001 Red Championship.
9/23/02 - 4:19 PM
CDT - JCCA.net
was updated with Links to Maps of Each Club. The link (shows above - "Map
Links" - takes the user to a map which shows the of the location of the club.)
9/16/02 - 1:25 PM CDT - There
was yet another, although subtle, change in CCC#2 Blue Captain. Bill James
is to now captain this team. However, the man was given NO instructions on
WHAT to do, or HOW to do it. Discussed how to Edit Players with him.
"Walk"ed him through the downloading and initial use of JCCA Scoreboard.
9/07/02 8:25 PM CDT - There
was yet another, although subtle, change in CCC#3 Green Captain.
Apparently Glenn Garaudy is to captain this team. However, the man was
given NO instructions on WHAT to do, or HOW to do it. Discussed how to
Edit Players with his wife, who is the main pc operator at home. Wife is
to call back tomorrow for JCCA.net to "walk" her through the downloading and
initial use of JCCA Scoreboard.
9/07/02 8:25 PM CDT - Apparently, Captains do not understand their duties, so am
contemplating a new page with instructions - linked from the Home Page.
8/09/02 3:45 AM CDT - There
were changes in Green Acres Team Captains during the meeting. Sunrise was
not represented in the meeting, and it now appears that the Blue Captain will be
Don Watts. Attempts to contact Sean King as Red Captain, have been
unsuccessful. The new schedules will be posted to the web as soon as they
are updated. We now have e-mail addresses for every captain except Beach
Club White and Riverside Green. Capitano White/Gold Captain's e-mail is
incorrect, but an alternate was provided.
8/06/02 5:45 AM CDT - Red,
White, Gold, Blue and Green Schedules posted to the web. These will be
updated after the Captains meeting, to reflect changes in Captains. Beach
Club Gold is not firmed, and Riverside Gold and Green just firmed up last night.
8/03/02 9:00 PM CDT - Barry Breaux called to talk about "over-the-web" scoring
and software rules for player eligibility.
It doesn't look like "over-the-web" will be available this season. "JCCA
Scoreboard" remains an option, and has been tailored to support the
"over-the-web" effort. After a score has been input, via JCCA Scoreboard,
the results are available from the web. Also, as the result of changes for
this year, players are eligible to play at specific LEVELS - not by club.
Available options are the players listed, or "Rainout," or "Forfeit."
The
options "Not_on_Roster," and "Didn't Get Name" are to be removed.
Players must be identified on the roster the Monday before the match in order to
be eligible for play.
7/31/02
9:56 AM CDT - Introduced automatic time-stamping of updates (see
left) Also REMOVED LINKS from Left-Hand Navigation, to Score Input Forms.
Changed the Link to the 02/03 Schedule Composite to the one proposed after
Boh Capitano and Ski Chelchowski offered to field
additional teams. Those additional teams were the key to making the
current schedule work. Also updated the Team Design page to reflect new
teams, and deleted those forms from the web
July 30, 2002 - Barry called to say
that the matches and the Rosters may now be viewed from JCCA.net.
Note to All Captains: An e-mail will be sent to all prospective
captains/scorekeepers how to update their rosters "over-the-web.".
July 30, 2002 - Continued clean-up of
the site. Note the links across the top. Provided a clean copy of
the New Schedule Composite - in Microsoft Word. The Excel file was
creating problems on the web. This Word format seems to work well.
Note that with the scoring routine being developed by Barry
and Ryan, the current input forms will not work, so will remove those links and
pages. Published an e-mail to all interested parties that the Juniors
results are posted.
July 28, 2002 - Competition Committee,
minus Gay Fourroux, met to confer on the proposed schedule, proposed JCCA Rules
& Regulations amendments, Scoring Rules, and Agenda for August 6 Captains'
Meeting at Green Acres. Ski Chelchowski provided results of the Juniors
Tennis Meet Of Champions which finished last week.
July 24, 2002 - Met with Barry and
his nephew Ryan for progress check & additional ground rules on scoring routines.
Plan is now to allow players to move up and down one division from their playing
level. Of course, Red may only move down one. Green may move up any
number of levels.
July 23, 2002 - Gave Barry Breaux the
UserID and password to access the current host's SQL Server.
July 16, 2002 - Barry Breaux got the
go-ahead from Gay Fourroux to have his nephew write the routines.
July 14, 2002 - Barry Breaux called
and we talked about putting the JCCA database on SQL. He wants to have his
nephew re-structure JCCA Scoreboard to write to the same database the new system
writes to, on a paid basis. I told him about the offer from San Diego to
do it for $300, but he said that was low. I told him I would let him know,
after hearing from Gay Fourroux . I want any changes to JCCA Scoreboard to
reflect the number before the team initials, and I want the SQL database on the
same server as the website.
July 14, 2002 - Established Test Score
Input form for Captain input practice.
July 12, 2002 - General revision and
link cleanup. Found several bad links that had resulted from the general
changes of July 9. Revised the Score Input Help page, added two pages of
example screens. Established a Test directory, and will set up Test Score
Input forms for Captain input practice. Am still going to move the
site before August 1, as the current host is not very supportive. Will
retire on Monday, August 15.
July 9, 2002 - Changed the Front Page
Themes on each Score Input page - Red changed to a distinctive theme; White was
changed to a distinctive theme; Gold was left as the already golden "Romanesque"
theme (i.e., this page); Blue was changed to a blue theme, and Green was change
to a green them - to help cue users as to which Division the scores would be
entered to.
July 8, 2002 - Changed to "Romanesque"
theme to help speed page loading.
July 8, 2002 - Added a "How-To" page to the web, to provide
instructions on how to go about score input with the new electronic system. Oh, I cannot take credit for this innovation; I only
modified the page. This came from an interested party from the Washington,
DC area. So people ARE looking at this site and our ideas.
July 7/8, 2002 - Ideas on how the
scoring system should work: - a database on the web for each Division.
Tables in each division would include a table for each team, and one table for
Rosters. Users inputting data would identify the team they wish to input.
and the date of the match they wish to input. This would open that (Home)
team's table, and open Rosters, with query selected to their players. The
script would look at the data in the table and determine what team is the
opponent for that week. Scripting would open the
identified team's table, and a query selected to that team's players. User
would input the data, and a script would be invoked when the "submit" button is
pressed. First, the e-mail address would be compared to that on file in
the table, and if it matched, data input would ensue. All of the data
applicable to the Home team would be placed in that team's table, and all of the
data applicable to the Visitor team would be placed in that team's table, and
the transaction completed. A script would generate an e-mail to the user,
to the opponent captain, and to the scorekeeper, stating that the results for
the match have been input, and for the opponent to review for accuracy, and
notify the scorekeeper of any disparities, within 48 hours.
July 7, 2002 - Revised "Site Map"
slightly Also revised the left-hand side links to allow a quick look at
the schedule if entering scores. Speaking of schedules - I cannot publish
until I get confirmation of captain names, phone numbers, and e-mail addresses.
July 7, 2002 - (Again, today?)
Took Download JCCA Scoreboard from the top, put that link on the left side.
This gives more room at the top, and now the links take only one line instead of
two. (Hint: to the "A" at the top of your browser and click to see font
size control - click on a smaller size for more room.) Also, changed those
links to the "Romanesque" style.
July 7, 2002 - Changed "Site
Navigation" to "Site Map." Also changed "JCCA Men's Tennis" to "Men's
Tennis." Also changed all the Input Pages from "(Color) Score Input" to
"(Color) Input" to conserve Home Page Banner space.
July 6, 2002 - (Busy day today, eh?)
Corrected all the e-mail links which sent e-mail to my former Home.com address,
instead of the new, correct cox.net address. Corrected a lot of links.
If anyone finds a link which does not work, PLEASE let me know. A Site
Report shows the current size at 30 MB, 24 MB of which is JCCA
Scoreboard-related.
July 6, 2002 - Re-built the Related
Sites page, restored some links on JCCA Men's Tennis Page, rebuilt yesterday
(OOPS! - I didn't log it?).
Placed additional links in the top border - these show up on every page now, so
navigation should not be a problem. E-mailed ProHosting about the PHP
Rocket - they replied that it didn't work so well....(Oh, I am supposed to give
up on my scoring ideas?)
July 6, 2002 - Changed THIS very page,
from a two-column format to a single column - for ease in posting.
July 5, 2002 - Have located a FrontPage 2002 add-in called "PHP
Rocket" which will script the PHP4 programming - however, will have to learn to
use it. Will the $300.00 be money well spent, at this time?.
July 5, 2002 - iTemp responded to the E-mailed of yesterday.
The PHP4 programming will cost $300.00, but their site includes 250 MB (up from
80 MB of the previous day) and sufficient passwords.
July 4, 2002 - E-mailed an input form
to a potential web host, then to JCCA men's tennis captains for
feedback. July 3, 2002 - Modified the score input
forms and looked for viable web hosts. Have a spreadsheet of
candidates.
July 2, 2002 - After threatening and
other verbal forms of exasperation, finally ProHosting Support got the
FormMail to work, but I am a LONG way from SCORE INPUT.
July 1,
2002 - FINALLY got the Guestbook (re )installed and
working. What a chore! June 29, 2002
- Continuing site cleanup. Re-directed link to Input forms from the
Men's Tennis Page. Input Forms STILL
DO NOT WORK AT THIS TIME. Am checking into
cgi/Perl/SQL routines.
June 27, 2002 - Installed Front
Page 2002 - gives additional flexibility in file management. OOOPS! Web-Master's new FrontPage2002 edited
JCCA.Net Shared Borders into PMCC web and GACC web. Apologies all
round. PS - GACC last update was December... June 27, 2002
- Continued site cleanup - deleted more old files and
checked on hyperlinks. "Prettied up" some pages, particularly the
Men's Tennis Page. Input Forms STILL DO
NOT WORK AT THIS TIME. Am checking into cgi/Perl/SQL
routines.
June 23, 2002 - Continued site
cleanup - deleted more old files and checked on hyperlinks.
"Prettied up" some pages, particularly the Men's Tennis Page. Revised the Input Forms WHICH DO NOT WORK AT THIS
TIME. June 21, 2002 - General site
cleanup - deleted a lot of old files and checked on
hyperlinks.
June 20, 2002 - As of this date,
the taste of crow is beginning to manifest itself. JCCA.net web
host insists that it IS MS Front Page - the webmaster has ordered FP 2002
to correct the problem - and the web host is working with us to prepare
the proper cgi scripts to work. So by this time next week,
interactive score input may be a reality.
June 16, 2002 - As of this date,
the input function of the Score Input forms do not work. The Submit
Button sends the information to a file that I cannot access, and due to
the phony sounding name, I doubt that the file itself exists.
Have
spent the past week in putting finishing touches on the Input forms, and
in trying to get them to write to an identified file. On contacting
the Web Host, Tech Support had the gall to tell me that it was a Microsoft
Front Page 2000 problem. However, I know people who have used Front
Page 2000 for form input, and they seem to have gotten around it.
And in fact, it has been used on this site. So I am SERIOUSLY
considering a new Web Host, in this case, either Digital Host, or Superb
Host. Both offer advantages. June 9, 2002 - Rough Draft
of Red Division Web Score input form.
June 8, 2002 - Changed the JCCA
Scoreboard Update Page from Excel to Front Page, and added to
Navigation. June 6, 2002
- Additional work on Home Page to center the
material. June 1, 2002
- Applied new theme and revised web for esthetics. July 23,
2000 - Posted Notice of USTA Men's COMBO League
Captain's Meeting - Home Page July 24,
2000 - Posted LINK to STA Community Tennis Associations

Historical
JCCA
Tennis "On-Line"
JCCA.net came about
as a result of a Men's Tennis Captains Meeting on May 2, 1999. Many
players stated they had no clue as to League Standings, even though
each Captain had been mailed updates of standings during the
season
The JCCA Men's Tennis Scorekeeper proposed a web
site, to keep players informed. The Captains agreed, but two
problems remained. First, the Scorekeeper had no clue as to how to
create and maintain a web site. Second, none of the Captains
admitted knowing how to do this, either. Solution?
Scorekeeper had to learn fast! And here it is.
Expanded to Include Entire JCCA Discussion of the Tennis Web
Site during the next JCCA Board Meeting prompted the attention of Swimming and Diving
representatives. The Webmaster had asked if Ladies' Tennis, and
Juniors' Tennis should be included. One Board member cited her
club's advertisement in the newsletter, for someone to set up a Web Site
for the membership. A motion was made, and the vote was unanimous, that
JCCA would set up a Web Site for All of JCCA. Presumably this means
that each member club is entitled to have a home page on this site.
Note the Special Offer which appears as a separate page on this
site.
Ladies' Tennis The Ladies' Red Team
Coordinator, and the Ladies' Blue Team coordinators are invited to provide
input.
The Webmaster will post articles or information
received. This includes schedules, standings, news notes, and
calendars.

All Information
received by the Webmaster on JCCA Juniors Tennis will be
